Class of 1965 Blog

Please pass this along to our classmates when you feel up to it.  Like you, some of Phil's body parts are wearing out too soon.

I got a call from Phil's wife (Marilyn) right after Phil came out of surgery this afternoon.  He underwent 8 hours of open heart surgery this morning at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville to replace a defective heart valve.  As you know, Phil is a marathon runner.  At any rate, the surgeon advised Marilyn that the surgery went very well with the exception of some bleeding, but that Phil should make a complete recovery without any further complications.  He should be going home in about a week to continue his recovery.  I advised Marilyn that our thoughts and prayers would be with her and Phil.

Best regards,
Bobby Byrd
