Class of 1965 Blog

I went by Kindred Hospital to see Butch this morning, and his condition has not improved much if at all.  He is still on a ventilator through a tracheostomy, and in addition to his other respiratory problems, he has now developed pneumonia.  The present plan is for Butch to be moved from Kindred Hospital to Health Center at Standifer Place on Monday if possible.  Standifer is a skilled care nursing home.
 
Butch was awake while I was there, but he was unable to speak due to the “trach”.  His 2 daughters, Laura and Annette, were also there and said that he will be on a ventilator “from now on”.  There are no plans for him to go home anytime soon as I understand it.
 
Laura and Annette continue to ask for prayers for their father, who is obviously a very sick man. They also said that Butch really enjoyed getting cards and letters from his old classmates, and veterans.
  
Since the last update, Butch has been moved from Room 219 to Room 203 at Kindred Hospital, but after Monday he will be at Health Center at Standifer Place, 2626 Walker Road, Chattanooga, TN  37421.
