Class of 1965 Blog

Bob, I just got off the phone with Phil McGovern who was planning on attending the reunion this Saturday, however, he has had a change in plans at the last minute which I wanted to pass along to you and all of our classmates.  Phil found out today that he will be undergoing open heart surgery within the next 30 days at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville to replace a defective heart valve.  Oddly enough, Phil is a marathon runner, and he recently competed in a triathalon...placing third for his age group.  Ironically though, he has known about this condition for quite some time.  At any rate, Phil will now be unable to attend the reunion, and he wanted me to pass along his regrets.  More importantly though, he has also aked for our prayers as he prepares to undergo this very serious procedure.  Best wishes as always, Bobby Byrd
