Alpha Ragland

Alpha "Alfie" E. Ragland, of Chattanooga, passed away Monday, January 18, 2010, from complications of Alzheimer's disease.

Alpha was born in Henegar, AL, on January 7, 1930.  She was a very talented self-taught seamstress and had worked at several different mills in the Chattanooga area.  She was of the Baptist faith and a member of Ridgedale Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, R.W. "Rags" Ragland; her parents, Carlton and Beulah Roberts; two sisters, Ann Cook and Myrtle Tripp; an infant brother; one nephew; one niece; and numerous aunts and uncles.

She is survived by her son, Ernie Ragland, of Chattanooga; daughter, Mary Greene, of Rossville; granddaughter, Susan (Rick); great-grandsons, Joshua "T.J." Greene and Rickey Lee Turberville; sister, Marlene Tucker, of Henegar, AL; two nieces, Janice Steele and Kim Tripp; and two nephews, J.R. Tripp and Perry Cook.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, January 21st, at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be at noon Friday, January 22, 2010, at the funeral home with Dr. Bill Owens officiating.  Visitation one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
