With a broken heart, I am writing to let you know that Max Smith passed away Thursday evening.  I received an email from his daughter, Heather, which I will copy below.  I told her that I would let the class know about her father and that we all loved him very much.
 
All I know is that the world has lost a kind, gentle, generous man who cared more about us than he did about himself.  Please remember his family in your prayers.
 
From Heather:
 
Hi Patty!  I am Max's oldest daughter. I wanted to try to get a hold of someone to let you know my dad passed away this evening.  Please let me know you received this message.  We are going to the funeral home in the morning to finalize the arrangements.  Jerry Smith Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
 
From Mike Randolph:
 
Becky Smith just called 7:15 a.m.  Max passed last night.  The only details I have is visitation Saturday and services Sunday, Smith Funeral Home, Athens, TN.
