Brenda Annette Gatlin, 57, of Lookout Valley passed away Saturday, October 24, 2009 at a local hospital. She was a lifelong resident of Chattanooga, was of the Baptist Faith, and retired in 1999 from Duff Brothers as a Compliance Coordinator with 22 years of service. She was a member of the Cherokee Tribe of North East Alabama and her Cherokee name was Standing Deer. Her passions in life were her family, enjoying the outdoors camping and canoeing, as well as reading. Brenda was a loving and giving person who will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Gatlin; mother, Marlene Little; and sister, Karen Walker.

Survivors include her husband of 42 years, Lebron “Butch” Gatlin, former Marine Sergeant and Vietnam Veteran; four children, Annette (Darian) Barnes of Bryant, AL, Eric Lebron Gatlin of Hixson, TN, Laura (Jerry) Leonard of Rossville, GA, and Rachel Lynn Gatlin of Chattanooga; father, Ellis “Bill” Little of Chickamauga, GA; two brothers, David Little and Gary Little of Huntsville, AL; half sister, Linda Jo Little of Murfreesboro, TN; mother-in-law, Eller Elizabeth “Betty” Ellis of Ft. Oglethorpe; eight grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, and uncles.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 12 noon in the South Crest Chapel with Pastor Mia Pittman-Head officiating.

Interment will follow in the Head Springs Cemetery in Valley Head, AL.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 4-8p.m. in the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home and Crematory, Rossville.
